Y Combinator Summer Batch 2020

Premier Silicon Valley accelerator Y Combinator (YC) – whose alumni include Dropbox, Instacart, Airbnb and Stripe – holds a Demo Day twice a year for investors to get a first look at their latest batch of companies. From the Summer 2020 batch of 198 companies, 192 startups presented at a live, virtual event in late August 2020, YC’s 31st Demo Day. This is the first YC class that has participated in the program 100% remotely.
KITE has based this report on 191 companies named in public reporting on YC Demo Day (see Additional Information section below). Data on funding, founding date, country and investors are from Crunchbase. KITE labeled the companies by Sector, Industry, and Vertical/Tech focus. Sectors and Industries follow the Global Industry Classification Standard (GICS) system, according to their predominant sector and industry, while Vertical/Tech Focus are included to provide a deeper view into which areas the company operates and their solution focus. Diversity, defined as at least one founder who is a woman and/or a Person of Color, was determined by reviewing publicly available information about the founding team.
